This session presents benefits and challenges of homeschooling as described in current literature and research.

FULL LENGTH DESCRIPTION

This session presents literature and research about the history of homeschool education in The United States, benefits associated with homeschooling, challenges associated with homeschooling, discussion of the challenges in quantifying homeschooling advantages and challenges, and conclusions that can be drawn.  The presenter will share her observations and experiences with homechool students and families as well and invites attendees to discuss how their observations and experiences compare with the research presented.  This session is of interest to educators, parents, or others who may be interested in the history of homeschooling as well as existing research that describes both benefits and challenges.
