Short Session Description (one line): Aligning Curriculum with the Bible and Common Core Standards
Full Session Description (as long as you would like): This workshop will enable Christian educators to develop lesson plans which are founded upon Biblical principles and aligned with Common Core standards. Upon completion of this webinar, the participant will be able to align standards of what students should be able to know, understand, and do academically with Bible truths. Participants will gain an understanding of Bible integration and components of the lesson planning process (e.g. studying the Word of God in order to identify Bible verses, biblical principles, biblically based open-ended questions, and examples that summarize or demonstrate the essential questions, lesson themes, or ideas; developing biblically based assessments of teaching and learning objectives, and the like).
Martin Luther believed that through biblical instruction students “would be able to comprehend, as a mirror, the character, life, counsels, undertakings, successes, failures of the whole world from the beginning. From this knowledge they could regulate their views and order their course of life in the fear of God, having become wise in judging what is to be sought and what avoided in this outward life and capable of advising and directing others” (1889).
