About Me

I taught music education K-12 for 22 years before leaving to homeschool my own children 2 years ago. I am in the process of writing my doctoral dissertation on my teaching experiences and how they influenced my decision to remove my own children from compulsory education. The writings of John Holt have been instrumental in my the evolution of my teaching philosophies. As a musician, I am particularly interested in creativity and the environments in which creativity can flourish.
